Drug Addiction

Are you struggling with drug addiction?

If you are struggling with an addiction to substances or behaviours that don’t serve your best interests then seeing a CBT Therapist can help you with your drug addiction.

What is addiction?

Addiction is defined as not having control over doing, taking or using something to the point where it could be harmful to you.

The treatment for drug addiction will depend on your personal circumstances and what you’re addicted to.

Your treatment plan may include a number of different treatments and strategies.

Talking therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, help you to see how your thoughts and feelings affect your behaviour.

What you need to know

Cognitive behavioural therapy has shown great success in treating addiction when used alone or as part of a treatment plan that utilizes other therapies. Most commonly though, in rehab programs, CBT will be supported by a variety of other therapies which are tailored to a person’s unique needs.
Drug addiction can be treated in several ways which include rehab, counselling, self-help groups and drug withdrawal medication.
But before any of this happens the addict needs to admit that there is a problem and is willing to do something about it.
Once he/she does so then they can be given a treatment plan with the aim of helping them to beat their addiction. This is a time consuming and difficult journey and relapse is possible. So the addict needs to be determined to succeed and have a good support network around them.
