Experience
Sharifa has 36 years’ experience in the NHS working both as a general nurse and mental health nurse. Since qualifying as a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist, Sharifa worked as a clinical nurse specialist and a CBT practitioner. She developed the CBT service in the Acute Admission ward at Lambeth Hospital for female clients with mild to moderate depression and for those with deliberate self-harming behaviour. Since then, she has provided CBT sessions in the Community Mental Health Team, accepting referrals for patients with complex needs cases and a variety of anxiety disorders. Additionally, Sharifa has worked as Sharifa has 36 years’ experience in the NHS working both as a general nurse and mental health nurse. a mental health practitioner and Cognitive Behaviour Therapist in the prison service, assessing and treating patients with post-traumatic stress disorder, moderate depression, personality disorders, severe anxiety and relationship problems. Sharifa is now dedicated to full-time private practice.
Sharifa enjoys working with all types of anxiety disorders and has a special interest in treating patients with anger problems, substance misuse, post-traumatic stress disorder and work-related problems. Sharifa additionally has extensive training in Schema therapy and DBT therapy, which are the treatments of choice for individuals with personality or longer-term mental health issues.
