Experience
Brendan trained initially as a psychiatric nurse in 1983 and worked in a variety of general and
specialist settings. He qualified as a psychotherapist in 1992 and worked for ten years at the Institute of Psychiatry and the Maudsley Hospital in South East London training health professionals, practising and researching in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Brendan is a very experienced mental health practitioner, teacher and service improvement advisor who has managed at board level, conducted research and developed and implemented a policy to support health and service improvement. He has worked in the public, private and charitable sectors, in roles ranging from front-line clinical practice to being the Director of Services on the board of a charity.
Brendan has a keen interest in anxiety and depression, particularly concerning work-related issues and dealing with the psychological aspects of long-term physical illnesses.
